First full night of editing

The title of the post reflects what I’ve been doing the last days every evening. So, I had 3 sets of unselected and unedited shots, plus I had to create the events blog, plus the fact that I had to post something on here made me „work” all evening. It’s never happened to me before, because I usually just downloaded the photos, edited them, posted them on my g+ collection and writing the blog post, plus a little sharing afterwards. Now, having to go through hundreds of pictures taken during three events took quite a lot of time. But I think I’ll have to get used to it, since I’ll be going to Italy for two weeke in the 20th of June and I’m not sure how much time I’ll have for actually editing shots.
Also, another thing that happened is that I just ordered myself a new lens. It’s not much, but there was one reason why I bought the Tamron 55-200mm AF lens. I’m currently waiting for it... So, basicly, I really wanted a tele, but didn’t have too much money to spend on it. That, plus the fact that I’m not sure how much will I use a tele. So the only reason I went for the Tamron was because of it’s size and decent image quality. Doing a lot of street shots, I really needed something to give me that focal range, but also not to attract attention.

Luckily for me, this day compensated inspirational-wise to the other one, so I was able to create some nice (I think) pictures.
I also had the oportunity to talk to two differetn persons with 2 different perspectives. The first one is a physics teatcher that’s hosting a photography circle(I think that’s how it’s called). We were talking about cameras and what would mean for me going to that group, and straight away he started talking about shooting events and stuff like that... Basicaly he was automaticly talking about making money... The second person is called Mircea Albu and is the founder of an art association that hosted the exhibition I participated. Again, we talked about his projects and all we talked about was the art part in photography, we never went in the whole money-making thing. I appreciated that he said that too many people take pictures just for money, and the ones that take shots for the art and not just for money are really rare theese days.
Ok, so this was it.Feedback would be really appreciated. You can find all of my pictures on my google plus account.

Also, don’t forget to check my other blog, tudorphotoevents.blogspot.ro.

Backs

I've been really busy in the last week so I didn't have time to edit and post some pictures. But now I have free time, so here they come.
Also, there are 2 things I need to mention before revealing the pictures. One, I did tweak the design of the blog for two reasons: the first one is that I find that watching pictures is a little better on a dark background and the second one is that I wanted to share my sports photographs somewhere. So I created another blog at tudorphotoevents.blogspot.ro where I will post mostly sports pictures. And with events I don't mean weddings and stuff like that, but mostly, as I said, sports.
The second thing is that I participate in 2 exhibitions. The first one was at a 2 hour festivel called "The light festival". This didn't mean so much to me as the second one because of the judges, which weren't any professionals or something like that. The one I'm really proud of is one created by an association called art-image. The theme was Cluj-Napoca, my home city, and 4 out of 5 pictures I sent got accepted. They were and still are displayed for a week at a renovated casino in the central park. I mean, my photos being chosen by "pro togs" means a lot for me...
Enough with the talking bit, now you'll see why my post name is Backs. I must admit that day I didn't have too much inspiration...

Good day

As the title says, I had a really good day with plenty of keepers in my opinion. Once again, I plugged in my earphones and started walking. I felt like I could really concentrate on photographing moments.
Most of them are done in daylight, but I think one of them is actually done at midnight. I know the moment  I choose to shoot is not too good, around 3 p.m., but that is , usually the only time frame I've got for going out.
As there are plenty of pictures, I'll quickly pass to them.

This picture was all about the reflections. I love the overwelming amount of "images" you get in this shot.

I really like this one because if the geometric pattern. Plus, the pidgeon and the old lady at the top adds a bit of life to this still.

This is the only color picture I decided to keep. Actually, I kept this picture because of its colors. A strange thing actually, the man on the bike actually was a photographer taking shots of random people on the streets.

The white bike is actually a thing a bit more special then me. I really love cycling, especially Mountainbikes, and, for those who can't read in Romanian, here's the translation on the board hanged on the bike's frame: In the memory of all biker victims of road accidents. Now my only question is, Romania being a country where stealing bikes slowly becomes a sport, how much will it stay there before it gets stolen? :)

I would have probably never even thought of this before the lines article I talked about in one of my recent posts.

This one has oficially bacame one of my all-time favourites. It's contrast and kind of optical illusion feeling is something I find great about it.

As I told you, one of those pictures is taken at night. And this is it! I'm really glad that having noise in the pictures doesn't affect a B&W shot too much... In my opinion, the shadows are the elements that make this picture.

One more time, you can find all of my pictures on my google plus account.

Thanks for all the feedback given so far!

Shiny movement

I found myself some time to get out on the streets and try a technique that I've heard of lately. Basicly, no more lines or stuff like that, just street photography. The trick is that I had my headphones on listening to music while I was shooting. And, trust me, it DID make a difference. I don't know if they made me more confindent or just they distracted me from the people's reaction when seeing me, but I can say that, as an experience, it was great! I'll deffinetly use this in the future.

Another thing, I'm planning on getting 2 lenses. The canon 50mm f1.8 for working with fix focal lengths and a tele, a Tamron 55-200 mm. I know the Tamron is a really cheap lens, but the thing that makes me buy it and not a canon is the incredibly small size. I mean, it's not much longer than the kit lens, and for a tele, it's just great.
Getting to the pictures, here are they. I saw this window of trees and I stood there and waited for another person to pass through the frame to fill it up. Also, the colors really popped up, so there was no need to make it B&W.

The next one isn't as well done technicaly speeking, but it does transmit a lot of emotion.  I've got nothing else to say about this actually...

Finally, the picture that gave the name of the blog post. I first saw this beautiful Harley on the sidewalk and trust me, it looks exactly as it looks in the picture. All the 'matte' chrome on it gives the picture a really cool dynamism.

Okay, I'm dorry for the smaller pictures, but blogger, once more, doesn't alow me to resize more than one picture.

But still, you can check all of my pictures on my google plus account.

Messing up with lines

As I said in my previous post, last time I tried to play with lines. How did this come to me? Once again, it's Youtube's fault. So I was watching a video from Mike Browne and one of his suggested videos was one where he explained how important were choosing angles and lines in a photograph.
So, basicly, I went out to experiment with this. I am a bti new to all theese techniques so for me is really cool to just go out and try different techniques to see which ones suit me best.

I really like the detail of the web(I think that's how it's called) in this picture. Also, I did not make it B&W because I really loved the dark colour.

Now this one is an example of playing with lines. I took a picture where the line was paralel to the edges of the shot and it was just booring. This way, though, it gave it a different perspective.

Even though I liked to experiment, my next shots will probably be pure street photographs. I really love the small details in this type of shots and how something as insignificant as a poster can change the message of a photograph.

Back in nature

Well, in not more than 2 days I'll be posting some other pictures where I tried to play with lines. But that's another post.
The short story is that we took a walk with our neighbours in the nearby forest, so I wanted to practice a bit nature photography. I think I did allright...

I honestly love the framing on the first one. Also, I'm glad I managed to capture the sun without getting any lens flare, considering the (quite rubbish) lens I have. One more thing, I really love that green. It deffinetly smells like summer is coming where I live.

This one, once again, I chose for the colour. I think thatbthe odd shape and the colour that pops up combine really well.

As I said, in no more than 2 days I'll post some pictures where I played with lines. I got the idea, from a video of Mike Browne, a really awesome photography teatcher.

Once more, you can check all of my pictures on my google plus account.

Last from April

Well, theese last shots are from several days of taking pictures. The first one is from one of my numerous after-school walks through the city. The last two were from the organization of Faget Marathon in cluj, cycling contest in which I participated too. Enough with the talking, let's see the pictures.
This first picture shows me how my "courage" evolved. At the beginning, I wouldn't have had the guts to just stand there and wait for her to turn around, but, now that I had, I love the result. I think the best of this picture is the overall context and the relationship between the two subjects.

As I said in the description of the poster picture posted earlier in the blog, I did see quite a lot of men pushing trolleys in digitalrev tv's youtube videos. Since I don't see quite that many around my hometown, this was an oportunity I couldn't loose.

For some reason, I really love this one. The subject is in perfect focus, in contrast with her body. This is one of those shots that you really like, but you can't explain why.

So, for more pictures, don't forget to check my google plus page.
